Our Family

Charles Lacey, CEO of Lacey Estates Vineyard & Winery, was born in Wales and grew up in Morocco, where his mother was the housekeeper for the Portuguese Consul. Upon coming to Canada in the 1940s, he found work as an electrician, and worked in the trade for fifty years. During one of his assignments, he discovered the County, and he and his wife Mollie bought and 18th century farm there with the intention of retiring, which they did in the late 80s. It has long been a dream of Charles' to have a winery although he often says that, what with all the work in the vineyard, he needs to come out of retirement to get a rest! An avid film fan, Charles has served on the boards of the Friends of Sandbanks, the Prince Edward County Horticultural Society and has been made an Honourary Member For Life of the Prince Edward County Quilt Guild for his assistance and contributions to that organization.
Kimball Lacey, Vineyard Manager, Chief Winemaker and Treasurer for Lacey Estates Vineyard & Winery, grew up in the Beaches in Toronto and worked in the investment industry for over fifteen years. When he decided he wanted to get out of the rat-race he and his family moved to the County, where he got a job with one of the new wineries that had sprung up in the area. Kimball had always had an appreciation for wine, and with his new job he found an avocation as well. Between learning from some of the top winemakers in the County and studying through the University of Guelph, Kimball has kept busy learning the ins and outs of his trade.
Elizabeth (Liz) Lacey, Lacey Estates’ Corporate Secretary, is also a well-known County fibre artist who has sold several works internationally. Before moving to the County, she worked in the banking industry in Toronto, and is currently responsible for the myriad of paperwork involved in getting the winery up and running. Liz is a member of the Prince Edward County Quilters’ Guild.
Serendipity lead Andrew Gray, Lacey Estates Vineyard & Winery's Marketing and Promotions Director, to reconnect with his family and radically change his direction in life. Andrew's intense personality and insatiable thirst for new experiences know no bounds. His former professional life while in Toronto included Private Investigation and Video Production. Currently a new County resident, he is now studying with one of the county's top wineries to complete his "transplant".
Being elected Lacey Estates Vineyard & Winery's Sales Director seemed a natural progression for Cynthia Gray's powerhouse sales abilities, which she developed during her career in Toronto's wholesale Fashion Industry. During her college years she studied Law Enforcement, which lead to Private Investigation, and was an accomplished "Markswoman". She and Andrew have always been a package deal and have recently carved out a new existence in the County to begin chapter two of their life. Reinvention has always appealed.
Lisa Lacey Liscoumb, a self-described “technogeek”, is responsible for Lacey Estates Vineyard & Winery's media relations and IT infrastructure. Lisa has a Bachelors’ Degree in Journalism from Ryerson University and has been published in both fiction and non-fiction publications. She currently works as an HR computer geek in the pharmaceutical industry and has previously worked for investment management and management consulting firms.

In Memoriam

Mollie Lacey, Lacey Estates Vineyard & Winery's original CFO, passed away in September of 2006, and is sorely missed. She grew up on a farm in Alberta and, upon moving to Toronto in the 50s, swore she'd never go back to farming. Over fifty years later, she happily "mucked in the dirt" planting vines, weeding and tucking plants. Mollie worked for the Toronto Dominion Bank in Alberta and Toronto for over 25 years, working at several locations including King and Bay Streets in Toronto before its closure. Mollie was an avid quilter who had shown her work in several quilt shows. She served on the boards of the Friends of Sandbanks, the Prince Edward County Horticultural Society as well as being a Past President and Member For Life of the Prince Edward County Quilt Guild.
